Clarinet

Coming from a family of musicians, Nans grew up in an environment full of music and it is thus only logical that he started making music at a very young age, under the guidance of his parents and his aunt. They were indeed his only teachers until he entered, at the age of sixteen,  the clarinet class of Arnaud Leroy at the conservatory of the 19th arrondissement of Paris. Graduated from the Pôle supérieur du CRR Paris,in the class of Franck Amet, he continued his musical studies with tuition from Pascal Moraguès at the CNSMD Paris. He has taken part in various competitions (Carl Nielsen, Debussy, Jmaji, Picardie, Lempdes, …) and was laureate of the competition ‘Jeunes Solistes de la Sorbonne’ in 2010. The same year, he was part of the French Youth Orchestra under the baton of Nicolas Simon and Kwamé Ryan. Open to a wide range of repertoire, Nans loves to play in a variety of different ensembles: a piano – viola – clarinet trio with his colleagues Nicolas Jouve and Jean-Baptiste Magnon, a winds and strings quintet, a sonata with his cousin Florent Hu, a piano – violin – clarinet trio with Eloïse Bella Kohn et Anne-Sophie Le Rol, Sextuor, and others. He has recently been active in klezmer music, notably with Ludovic Lantner, participating in the freshly-release CD Klezzy, but also loves klezmer dance events. He is regularly invited as substitute in orchestras like the Orchestre National de France, Orchestre de Paris, the Philhamonique de Radio France, the Capitole de Toulouse, Orchestra National de Lille under the baton of renowned conductors, including Yutaka Sado, Daniele Gatti, Alain Altinoglu, David Zinman, Herbert Blomstedt, and others. He has studied under several great teachers, most notably Franck Amet, Jean-Marc Volta, Bruno Martinez, Philippe Berrod, Jean-Noël Crocq, David Walter, László Hadady, and Pascal Proust. From 2012 to 2012, Nans was clarinettist of the French Republican Guard, before he joined the Orchestre National de Lyon, first as bass clarinet, since 2017 as principal clarinet.
