Tomomi Hirano

Cello


Born in Japan, Tomomi started to play the cello at the age of five. After having completed her studies in Tokyo, she received scholarships of the Meiji Yasuda Cultural Foundation and the Rohm Music Foundation. She was accepted to the class of Philippe Muller at the CNSMD Paris where she obtained her Master’s degree in 2012. A chamber music passionate, she was selected for the Académie Ozawa in Switzerland from 2009 to 2011 where she was able to refine her play, being around great personalities, such as Pamela Franck, Nobuko Imai, Robert Mann, and Seiji Ozawa. She has been co-founder and member of several ensembles and performed in a variety of festivals (Festival de Deauville, Festival Berlioz, …). She also works as a soloist both in France and abroad, with ensembles including the Orchestra of Saint Louis, the ensemble of the Fugato Academy, Harmoie d’Eybes, and Kyoto Civic Philharmonic. She has, amongst others, been member of the Académie de l’Orchestre de Paris in 2009 (dir. C. Eschenbach, P. Järvi) and the Lucerne Festival Academy Orchestra in 2010 and 2011 (dir. P. Boulez, P. Eötvös, D. Robertson, …). After having been member of several French orchestras (Opéra National de Paris, Opéra National de Lyon, Orchestre National de Lyon, Orchestre National de Lille, Orchestre National de Pays de la Loire, Opéra de Marseille, …), she has been co-soloist at the Orchestre de Bretagne since 2019, and is currently member of Orchestre National de Lyon Since 2015, Tomomi has been playing a cello made my Antoine Cauche, a loan of Mécénat Musical Société Générale.
